not bad....just keep the bar-ends pointed front 8)

and if that's what it takes to get you riding, get a new one! they're really not that expensive - your health and happiness are worth it =P

Don't "combo." Most of those bikes are for newbies and nimrods.

Get a basic mountain bike, preferably one with a decent suspension fork, a hard tail, and mechanical (as opposed to hydraulic) disc brakes.

Then if you need to ride on the road a lot, put slicks on it =P

Road bikes are really and truly only for roadies or serious riders who need cross-training (that would be me)....and "cross" bikes are usually shitty compromises.

A real mountain bike is going to be better constructed, usually a better value, and probably better ergonomics for you as well.

Do NOT get something with "oversize" 700cm road-type wheels. Get real 26-inch mountain bike wheels if you want them to handle an accident or a curb-drop without coming apart....

oh, and for the love of Jeebus never mention Bike Fridays around me again, those things just scream "DEATH TRAP" at me....

foldables are for people in one of two categories:

1. People who like the idea of a swiss-army-bike more than the reality of actually riding such a Frankenstein-ian horror.

2. Those with a death wish, in particularly those who want to die in horrible agony gushing blood like a firehose because their Bike Doomsday "folded" into their femoral artery....

HEY !

I got a folder AND a hybrid!

The folder is a Fuji, got it from Marlboro no less.
That's my ghetto cruiser, for going out partying and runs to the grocery store.

The hybrid is a Giant, that's my touring bike, 2 - 400+ trips on it so far, a 500 mile trip planned for this year on it.
No problems with it at all,*knocks wood*, except when I got lost on the trip up to Michigan and wound up on a #$@#$@#$ ATV trail.

(the seat stem of the airglides bring to mind the pic of the guy with the wooden pole shoved through his leg)

I'll forgive your hybrid. For now.

As for the foldable.....and a FUJI no less?! Their REGULAR frames are known for disintegrating in the middle of a ride without any warning or discernible reason.

Since you got it through Marlboro, you must be a #2 -- death wish

The only time I've ever folded it was to show people how it works.
That thing is a tank!
The only thing that's orignal is the frame, I've replaced just about everything else.
Even got groovy folding saddle bags for grocery runs.
:D
