One of the things that marks me as a true cat freak is that I have carefully learned their 'language.'

I can produce a fairly good "purr" noise by vibrating my tongue against the back of my top teeth, and I have my various "meows" down pretty well. I even have a fairly good idea of the feeling behind the various noises cats make, and they seem to understand me pretty well when I "talk" to them....

How about you (and any other cat freaks on the board)?

Ha ha.......I purr with my cat too. We also 'talk' a lot to one another. It's cute to see that look on their face when you apparently get the sounds just right.

I'm not a cat freak, i like em, but I'm more of a dog man.

One of my best friends though is a cat freak. He has this gray and white cat he rescued from the shelter. We joke that she's marked like a great white shark, because she can act like one the way she slinks and stalks around his house.

And his cat absolutely hates any woman my pal brings home. she will stalk and attack them without provocation. The last girl he dated, she let the girl get close, then slapped her across the face with her pas -- tt was hysterical.

But she'll turn on men too. I lived with my buddy for a short time (about 6 months) and the cat and I were friendly, but I will never forget her biting my foot when I was sleeping. Man did that hurt. Whenever I visit with my buddy now, he'll pick up the cat, turn her towards me and talk in a "kitty" voice saying "just go to sleep"

LMAO! There's always a few like that....usually because other cats (or people) treated them like shit when they were kittens, but sometimes it's just their personality....

I always prefer to raise kittens from the earliest possible age so that they aren't subjected to the kind of environment that non-cat-lovers tend to create. Cats aren't toy robots, they're people with thoughts and feelings. They don't have as many neurons to spare as we do, but that doesn't mean much in the final equation....

The earlier you can protect them from the world's bullshit, I find that the better they turn out. By a huge margin, with even subtle tiny changes in their early-life environment.

After all, those first few weeks are what make the difference between a sweet domesticated cat, a freaky semi-domesticated psycho-cat, and a totally feral one....

But I can tell you no cat is loved more than she is. She of course thinks my buddy is her property and not the other way around.

A great kitty even though I've got her fang marks in my foot

yeah,.....one time i was in one room and made a cat questioning sound and they freaked out and looked at me. one was peeking around the corner wondering why i was talking. they looked as suprised as Dr Zeus did at Charlton Heston talking.

LOL....I've been there, have I ever!

My whole neighborhood must think I'm totally insane. I am forever calling my cats in using feline-speak and kissy-kissy noises, because even here in the suburbs they're too used to being country cats to tolerate being cooped up in this apartment 24/7....

Where's fucking Nyar when you need him???

Oh, well.
I'll have to ask Exit:
I taking care of a tennants cat, well, her mothers cat anyway.
She said feed him on Wed. and Sat., does that sound right?
He's got plenty of dry food, but she said give him a can of friskies on the aforemention days.

Stupid cat, doesn't like humans, hisses at me and will scratch if you get too close, she had to warn the cleaning lady.

it depends on how much you leave him. if its just one cat then that sounds fine if he has a big bowl to fill.....more importantly is water.

charlie hisses at me if i touch his tail or paws.

Cool, thanks.

Yeah, he's got a big bowl of water, and a pretty big bowl of dry food.

It's funny though, the girl who's taking care of her Mom's cat doesn't even like animals.
Cats or dogs.

Not a cat freak, but I can purr real good, meow and hiss at them too.
Freaks them out. :D

Girl I used to live with had 2 cats, then her sister moved in with 2 more.
Was OK, 'cept during allergy season, fuckers seem to sense when your allergies are bad and start rubbing up on me.
She had one, something was wrong with it's central nervous system.
Couldn't feel if you would pet him, so you kind had to like slap him, he loved that.

Cats just seem to like me for some odd reason.... my uncle, a harley biker dude, just moved here from cross-country and brought with him a really spazzy cat that refuses to make any motion towards me and actually scampers away if I get within 5 feets, even moving slowly. I've begun to think of him as my "project kitty" and will hopefully get him to curl up on my lap within a few days ^.^ He sleeps on the same bed as my uncle and they're all buddy-buddy (the cat's name actually *is* Buddy :P), so it's possible. As for cat noises... I'm working on 'em :) We've not had a cat in a long time tho (much to my dismay =/) since our last one got in a fight with a coyote and lost :'( He'd come when I called his name and loved me to death (and vice-versa). I was sad =/ Anyhoo... yeah.

The tenant in the back related this story to me the other day:

He's got a friend who's kinda goofy, doesn't bathe for days and that sort of thing.
Anyway, her cat died, so she calls him up to take her to get the cat cremated, well when it died she wrapped it in towels and put it in the freezer.
So he had to pull this dead cat out of her freezer and as he did one of the legs broke off, so he just kinda stuck it back so she wouldn't notice.
Then he had to drive her out to the suburbs, like 20 miles, with a dead frozen cat in the back seat.

He sez that was the end of their friendship, and won't answer her calls anymore.
