This is the 2nd protest against a military recruiting station I've heard of today. Another is to take place in Ohio (forgot the date)
So are we going to have to start praying for our military here in America to be protected from American Citizens?

I have to say, ihave exceedingly mixed feelings about this sort of thing; as a Quaker, as a Zen Buddhist, as the father of a family, as a former/life-long warrior & martial artist; and as an analyst-consultant on global affairs & strategy.
I must say, despite that fractured and even contradictory perspective....I do think that many people felt imposed upon, harrassed, even manipulated or tricked by military recruiters' aggressive, persistent, and sometimes even downright abusive behavior towards young potential recruits nearing their 18th birthday.
I don't think that citizens should blindly tolerate questionable tactics/behavior on tv part of recruiters....if communities feel that corrective actions needs to be taken, particularly if this opinion is widely shared in these communities, then I think those people should act accordingly. After all, soldiers are citizens too -- some might say, an even more deserving class of citizen for strict protecion from injustice than those who have not served our nation -- and they should be selected from committed volunteers; NOT, outside of
a draft (which is a whole 'nother can of worms), pressured or tricked into that commitment.
I'm not necessarily supporting this sort of aggressive counter-action at this time; but I do think that this is a highly nuanced issue and over-simplifying it could be a grave mistake.

detaining in cages against someone's will is kidnapping. Isn't it? :hmmmm:
They plan to detain until they agree to quit recruiting........Um, if they did that, they would be AWOL and in prison because this is their assigned duty station..

It's considered unlawful restraint. If they are moved from point A to point B it could in all probability be considered kidnapping...a federal offense...i.e. jail time for the offender(s) :)

Parents fleeing armed home invaders leave child behind near West Palm Beach
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
An 8-year-old boy slept in his room Tuesday morning while gunmen forced their way into his house, shot and killed a family dog and sent his parents fleeing to the street.
Kevin Dummett, 35, and Kellin Hahn, 26, were the targets of two attempted robberies at their home Tuesday — both carried out by the same two men, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.
The men approached Dummett in his driveway and tried to rob him at 12:15 a.m. He didn't call 911. When the gunmen returned at 6 a.m. and broke in through the back door, the family pit bull charged them and was immediately shot.
Hahn and Dummett fled the home, leaving their son asleep in his bedroom, the sheriff's office said.
"We couldn't get to him," Dummett told WPEC Channel 12. He said the boy didn't wake up until deputies arrived to rescue him, after the gunmen fled without taking anything.
"He's absolutely fine. He's a trouper."
Another family dog in the house survived.
Neighbors along Gun Club Road in suburban West Palm Beach thought they lived on a quiet street until gunshots, a search helicopter and a dozen patrol cars woke them.
Dummett told investigators that the invaders apparently wanted drugs or money.
In the last few years, Dummett's arrest history includes charges of burglary, battery, marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license.
By law, the state Department of Children and Families cannot comment on whether the parents could lose custody of their son after leaving him behind. But whenever the DCF hears about something of this magnitude, spokeswoman Laura Tingo said, the agency works with law enforcement to ensure that all children in the home are safe.
Dummett told the television reporter he didn't report the first robbery because he didn't think he could describe the men well enough to help law enforcement catch them.
Jackie Morrow, who has lived across the street for a year, said she thought she heard gunshots a few weeks ago and will continue to be cautious. "I'll be very vigilant from now on," she said.
Neighbor Patrick Sell told deputies he saw a car driving suspiciously in the area around midnight.
He didn't call it in at the time but alerted investigators Tuesday morning, just in case it might help their search efforts.
"Nothing like that happens around here," said Sell, who has lived in the neighborhood for 25 years.
The early search included the area near Melaleuca Elementary School, and deputies had the school locked down.
But the school opened at 7:15 a.m., district spokesman Nat Harrington said.

Mom sentenced to 20 years for keeping son in cage
Fri May 23, 12:18 AM ET
A mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday for keeping her 17-year-old adopted son caged in her home.
Brenda Sullivan pleaded guilty in January to three counts of aggravated child abuse. Prosecutors agreed to drop lesser child neglect charges.
The teen weighed 49 pounds when child welfare workers found him in 2005 in what appeared to be a cage. Sullivan told a judge at the time that Ohio authorities told her to keep the boy, who had severe medical and emotional problems, in a crib.
"There's only one conclusion when you look at the medical evidence in this case, and that is that she literally starved him," prosecutor Julie Schlax said.
Two other children, 13-year-old twins the Sullivans adopted as infants, both testified they were kept in similar cages.
Sullivan's husband was also arrested, but died in January 2007 while awaiting trial.
Sullivan's lawyer, Charles Fletcher, said he didn't think prison was the right option because she does not pose a threat to society. He said they would appeal the sentence.
IMO: She poses a threat to children!!

Then when he tried to lift her face veil while she was sleeping, she asked for a divorce.
“After all these years, he tries to commit such a big mistake,” the wife said.
She said her husband apologised and promised never to do it again, but she insisted on a divorce.
This is not the first time this situation has occurred. Al Arabiya, a Saudi newspaper, reported the case of Ali al-Qahtani, when he tried to take his wife’s veil off after 10 years of marriage, she threatened to leave.
Similarly, Hassan Al-Atibi threatened to marry another woman when his wife didn’t show her face. But she suggested he marry one of her friends.
And neither the husband or children of Om Rabea al-Gahdaray (70) have ever seen her face. It was a family tradition, also followed by her mother and sisters, which her husband accepted and never tried to change, she said. When asked how she could have children without her husband ever seeing her face, she replied, “Marriage is about love, not faces.”
Always being veiled is not an Islamic practice, but a very old tradition practised by a minority of people in Gulf countries.

Man admits having sex with 1,000 cars
A man who claims to have had sex with 1,000 cars has defended his "romantic" feelings towards vehicles
Edward Smith, who lives with his current "girlfriend" – a white Volkswagen Beetle named Vanilla, insisted that he was not "sick" and had no desire to change his ways.
"I appreciate beauty and I go a little bit beyond appreciating the beauty of a car only to the point of what I feel is an expression of love," he said.
"Maybe I'm a little bit off the wall but when I see movies like Herbie and Knight Rider, where cars become loveable, huggable characters it's just wonderful.
"I'm a romantic. I write poetry about cars, I sing to them and talk to them just like a girlfriend. I know what's in my heart and I have no desire to change."
He added: "I'm not sick and I don't want to hurt anyone, cars are just my preference."
Mr Smith, 57, first had sex with a car at the age of 15, and claims he has never been attracted to women or men.
But his wandering eye has spread beyond cars to other vehicles. He says that his most intense sexual experience was "making love" to the helicopter from 1980s TV hit Airwolf.
As well as Vanilla, he regularly spends time with his other vehicles – a 1973 Opal GT, named Cinnamon, and 1993 Ford Ranger Splash, named Ginger.
Before Vanilla, he had a five-year relationship with Victoria, a 1969 VW Beetle he bought from a family of Jehovah's Witnesses.
But he confesses that many of the cars he has had sex with have belonged to strangers or car showrooms.
His last relationship with a woman was 12 years ago - and he could not bring himself to consummate it, although he did have sex with girls in his younger days.
Mr Smith, from Washington state in the US, kept quiet about his secret fetish for years, but agreed to be interviewed as part of a channel Five documentary into “mechaphilia”. He is shown meeting other enthusiasts at a rally in California
Talking about how his unusual passion developed, Mr Smith said: "It's something that grew as a part of me when I was a kid and I could not shake it.
"I just loved cute cars right from the beginning, but over the years it got stronger once I got into my teenage years and was my first having sexual urges.
"When I turned 13 and the famous Corvette Stingray came about, that car was pure sex and just an incredible machine. I wanted it.
"I didn't fully understand it myself except that I know I'm not hurting anyone and I do not intend to."
He added: "There are moments way out in the middle of nowhere when I see a little car parked and I swear it needs loving.
"There have been certain cars that attracted me and I would wait until night time, creep up to them and just hug and kiss them.
"As far as women go, they never really interested me much. And I'm not gay.”
Mr Smith is now part of a global community of more than 500 “car lovers” brought together by internet forums.

this is just downright crazy! the mechaphilia post was really taking the cake too.
That reminds me of those people who cannot get aroused unless they are in goofy cartoon animal costumes?! Weird. Some peoples brains just crystallize wrong and get wired up all backwards and sideways! :whoknows: :ohno: :hmmmm:

Police: Man Stabbed Woman to Death for Calling Him Smelly
Friday , May 30, 2008
PITTSBURGH —A man fatally stabbed a neighbor woman because she treated him "like dirt" and told him he smelled, Pittsburgh police said.
Terrence Andrews, 38, is charged with criminal homicide in the Thursday night death of 19-year-old Lisa Maas.
Andrews told them Maas insulted him that morning and he waited all day for her to return to her apartment, before attacking her with scissors, police said.
Maas tried to defend herself with a steak knife, officials said.
Andrews sat on Maas' couch and watched her die before leaving, police said.
He told police "Take me to jail. I did it," when they arrived, officials said.
Andrews is recovering from a cut to his head and will be jailed after his release from a hospital.
