Default Halloween costume....

So yah... I'm thinking electrically insulated boots + home made portable van graph generator = fun halloween costume....

thoughts? I hope to git more in depth a lil later on...

oh and I know its just inane paranoia and such but why do all the cheap electrically insulated boots have to have steel toes? I got used to avoiding them once I started working around things that could crush the steel in the toe... and yah...

So my current idea is to try and build something along the lines of Lorente's desighn and ground the negative side and connect the positive side to the interior of a 14" spun aluminum sphere in an attempt to gain some of the advantages of both the van de graff and lorente's desighn... have yet to do the calculations but I believe a properly made 14" sphere should be ok to about 750k volts under optimal conditions...

powersource is something that still needs to be worked out... any ideas? I question how effective a hand crank would be... an electric motor with a battery aray... or perhaps a small gas engine....

How about a fuel cell, or a simple battery?

So due to a lack of time and funding I'm thinknig to eliminate a large chunk of portability from the scheme and build myself an insulated soap box to stand on from which a small skit could be acted out. Also for a powersource I may just beable to git mah hands on a little trailer full of solar charged batteries forget what kinda wattage it can put out but considering it was desighned with hopes of powering practice amps for electrical instruments off in the middle of a field I figure it should fit my needs.

Of course, if your goal is to zap people, you could always develop a shoe with carpet in it... LOL

A bunch of 24v off-the-grid house batteries might do the job....they're also conditioned for the kind of trickle charging you're talking about - for example solar.
