Do you intend to start any serious discussion? Because this is a very important topic!

After all, we have three med MJ patients just in our little Dojo hangout alone!

You are most often the guy to talk about this but even I, one of the more conservative of the bunch think that prohibition is stupid.

For those that don't know, I have a rare MS-like protein disease which causes me to have severe spasms and nerve/muscle problems. I have a california medical mj card from a respected doctor and consume a fairly high daily dose of oral/vaporized cannabis extracts to help control my symptoms.

This allows me to cut way down on the nasty drugs that are normally prescribed for the spasms and the neurological symptoms, which in turn makes me healthier.

I almost never actually smoke the stuff.

You can find my posts about this on http://treatingyourself.com/, under a different name.

I was very anti-marijuana when I first met the Packet Dojo guys but over the years I have learned a lot and after meeting Rogue/seeing what he goes through every day, I couldnt dream of withhholding any useful medicine to people who need it.

I have even been tricked into getting high a couple times. Its not so bad

I would love to see all states leagalize Ganja for medicinal purposes. I haven't smoked the stuff in about 18 years but I can say that it is a wonderful muscle relaxer. Hell, the government should legalize it across the board and use the money to help lower the cost of health care. The fact that it's illegal isn't stopping anyone from using it anyway.

Very true; last estimate I saw was 25-30% of all adults over 30 still consume marijuana in some form on an at least semi-regular basis, and upwards of 40% of Americans in general could be considered "potheads."

The number of people who've at least tried it is well over 50%, IIRC....

Although I don't get stoned on a regular basis anymore, I still use MJ when I can get it to help relieve the chronic pain from my old MTB racing injuries and also to help stop the nasty muscle spasms they cause in my pelvic region....it's extremely effective for both things, and helps me get through my periods of severe pain without resorting to opiates.

I don't really smoke it anymore because of the health drawbacks, but rather usually use a vaporizer (heat gun type, e.g. Vapor Brothers) and then make cannabis oil from the "seconds" that come out of the vape.

Put simply: prohibition is a moronic ideal in general, but in the specific case of cannabis it's downright outrageous, IMHO. Responsible use hurts nobody, including the user....and the benefits can be tremendous for those who have medical conditions.

Yes!

Surprisingly, it turns out that a number of Red states are supporting the medical MJ case that's currently before the Supreme Court -- they've filed briefs in support of the plaintiff!

After all, with numbers like 40, 50, 60%+ believing that marijuana prohibition is a bad idea and that it should be legalized at LEAST for reasonable medical cases....after the recent election, we *know* a good portion of those people have to be Reds! 8)

OOOH !! OOOH !!

Me too !
:D

Had a friend who died of AIDS a year ago, they had him on marinol, MJ in pill form.
But he still prefered the good-old-fashioned joint.
He was allowed to purchase it too, small amounts, I think.

He told Ma(82 years old) to ask her Doc for some marinol, for her arthritis and cataracts.
She did . :D
But her Doc says no, we're not as liberal as Florida, I guess.

And yes, I think it should be legalized, used to smoke it, still do once a year or so.

BUT, you know damm well the DEA and other assorted agencies are just making too much money confiscating peoples homes, cars, etc. to stop now.

All too true. And I don't even want to try to touch the issue of connections between the CIA and drug runners/arms smugglers over the years. FreyGrimrod is working to be our local expert and hopefully he'll be giving us some of his thoughts on the subject soon....

some people are fucked up much more heavily than others when they smoke pot. questions to ask yourself frankly are:

do i smoke it every day?

do i want to smoke it every day?

do i need to smoke it every day?

if i dont get it every day do i freak out and get bitchy?

does a life without smoking pot seem appealing?

you know where im going with it. i chose career over smoking weed in 96 and havent smoked since. i didnt think i would like it but making close to 100k is better than the 8 dollars an hour i would have been stuck with. ive seen bright people with a good future just dream it away because they feared the dreaded drug test more than they feared moving on with their lives and leaving pot behind them.

dont get me wrong....i LOVE the shit. it smells great and should be legal IMO.

i know several people who couldn't make $100K+ if it werent for marijuana, because it helps them with their health conditions. all of the people im talking about make five figures and work very hard even though they have to be stoned all the time not to be in agony :(

of course, the people who you're talking about (some of whom i also know) didn't get that way by spending a lot on drugs; they grow their own medicine, that's pretty much it. always seems odd to me that some people would invade people's homes, throw them in jail for years just for that....

....but then im californian

California Uber Alles

DEAD KENNEDYS

I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles
And never frowns
Soon I will be president

Carter power will soon go away
I will be Fuhrer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school

California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California

Zen fascists will control you
100% natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face

Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay

California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California

Now it is 1984
Knock knock at your front door
It's the suede/denim secret police
They have come for your uncool neice

Come quitely to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower

Die on organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will crack, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown

California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California
